Recorded webinar – Inside organised exploitation: A conversation with Michael Salter

Sep 2025

Professor Michael Salter is criminologist and internationally recognised expert on child sexual exploitation and will present recent findings on:

  • The nature of organised child sexual abuse in care environments
  • How offenders operate through networks and exploit systemic blind spots
  • The failure to clearly differentiate child sexual exploitation (CSE) from harmful sexual behaviours (HSB)
  • The impact of trauma, disrupted attachment, and fragmented services on children’s vulnerability

The session will then transition into a facilitated Q&A exploring:

  • How CSE and HSB are often confused and misunderstood
  • What care providers and frontline workers need to notice and respond to
  • How trauma-informed and attachment-aware practice must evolve in the context of organised harm
