Introduction
Children who have experienced trauma often find themselves within diverse professional systems employing a range of conceptual understandings to the work with them.
Interplay refers to the interaction of ideas and their influence on one another. The complex interconnection of neurobiology, trauma, attachment and mental health are explored in this innovative workshop. This integrated theoretical lens provides a conceptual approach to understanding children and young people.
This workshop provides a definition of neurobiology, trauma and attachment theories. It also delivers an understanding of the correlation and integration of these, as they relate to emotional and behavioural issues in children and young people with a mental health diagnosis. A clear understanding of the impact of relational trauma will be included as central to this integration of theory.
Within the workshop there are multiple points of conceptual integration, which is important when assessing, formulating and providing therapeutic clinical assessment and intervention to children.
Relational theories with a focus on physiological safety will be presented and explored with reference to reparative clinical intervention with children and the adults and systems who care for them.
This workshop will support you to gain a comprehensive understanding of the complex interplay between neurobiology, trauma, attachment and mental health, enhancing your knowledge and skills in providing effective support and interventions for and with children and young people and their families.
