Understanding and embedding the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations
Introduction
This workshop aims to empower participants to understand and embed the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations (National Principles) in their organisation to create a child safe organisation. A child safe organisation one that one that creates a culture, adopts strategies, and takes action to promote child wellbeing and prevent harm to children and young people.
The National Principles provide a nationally consistent approach to embedding child safe cultures within organisations that engage with children. Underpinned by a child-rights approach and based on the standards recommended by the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses into Child Sexual Abuse, the National Principles are designed to build capacity and deliver child safety and wellbeing in organisations, families and communities and prevent future harm.

Target Audience
These workshops are designed for ‘child safe champions’. This may include advocates of children’s rights and child safeguarding within organisations, middle or senior managers who oversee children’s safeguarding or middle or senior managers who oversee children’s programs and services.
Learning Methods
The National Principles/Victoria Child safe Standards are designed to allow flexibility in implementation and recognise that a variety of organisations look after children and young people based on types, sizes, and capacities. The Foundation recommends that a maximum of three participants join from any one organisation so that participants from different organisations are able to share ideas, challenges, and practices.
To help facilitate an interactive workshop and empower individuals to share ideas, challenges, and practices, we will cap participant numbers at a maximum of 25.
To promote the sharing of ideas, challenges and practices across organisations, this workshop requires a minimum of 8 participants. Participants will be informed within one week of the workshop if the workshop will not be proceeding due to this requirement and participants will have the option to attend a future workshop or receive a full refund.
