Healing relational trauma through play

Introduction

This workshop explores the role of play in supporting healing for children aged 0-5 who have experienced relational trauma. Participants will gain knowledge in the neuroscience of play, the importance of relationships and safe environments, and how to use play to foster connection, identity and safety.

This training session explores:
  • The importance of relationships to support healing
  • Neuroscience and play and how to apply this in the work you do
  • What neuroception of safety is
  • Healing environments
Participants will gain skills and knowledge to understand the importance and role of:
  • Significant adults in the lives of children affected by relational trauma
  • Play in the lives of children affected by relational trauma
This will support you in your work with children with relational trauma by exploring practical ideas you can start to implement immediately.

About the facilitator

This training is delivered by experienced early childhood practitioners and trauma-informed educators with a strong focus on therapeutic play and healing relationships. They support educators, services and other professionals to create safe, nurturing environments that promote recovery through everyday interactions.
