Introduction
This practical one day workshop provides participants with the opportunity to learn how to successfully establish and run the Bringing Up Great Kids (BUGK): Parenting program.
It is the prerequisite level of training for individual professionals to be able to have access to the BUGK: Parenting program and become a registered facilitator. All registered facilitators will receive access to the Bringing Up Great Kids: Parenting program manual, relevant activities and resources within the registration cost of the workshop.

About the facilitator
This training is delivered by experienced professional trainers who are well informed in relation to trauma informed intervention and practice. They have a strong understanding of trauma and its impact on children and families and are able to translate this knowledge into practice in a range of professional contexts. A focus on application to practice via discussion and strategy is always an important component of the workshops.Other information

Target audience
This training is suitable for all professionals working with parents in either an individual or group context. While the program focuses on primary aged children, it can be adapted for infants and adolescents.
Learning outcomes
- Understand the principles of reflective and mindful parenting
- Identify the key concepts of the Bringing Up Great Kids parenting program in the context of kinship and foster carers
- Know how to set up program criteria for specific members of their parenting community
- Be able to effectively implement the program and its activities
- Learn how to adapt the program to meet the specific needs of the parents it is being used with
- Know how to use it with individual parents and parent groups
- Understand how to evaluate the program and its outcomes

All training sessions delivered by the Australian Childhood Foundation are facilitated by members of our Therapeutic Services and Professional Education Services teams. These staff members are qualified and experienced professionals who are engaging in trauma informed practice with children, young people and families across Australia. Training team members draw on their practice wisdom and current experiences to contextualise the training content to practice challenges and successes. They are able to link the theory and research to the therapeutic reach of the organisation’s programs throughout each training program.
