Sarah Groom

Manager, Education & Training

Sarah is the Manager, Education and Training at the Australian Childhood Foundation, leading a team delivering education and training programs which build the knowledge and skills needed to support children and young people who have experienced trauma. With a background in research, policy, advocacy and programs delivery, Sarah has extensive experience developing and delivering accredited and non-accredited training, professional learning and workplace mentoring across community and education sectors.

Sarah has a strong interest in children’s development and learning, particularly their oral language and early literacy development, and is passionate about equitable, child-centred and strengths-based approaches to supporting vulnerable children. Sarah is currently undertaking a Masters of Research (Psychology), investigating the psychosocial determinants and longitudinal trajectories of oral language and early literacy development in a vulnerable cohort of children in regional NSW.

Sarah has worked extensively in and with regional and remote Aboriginal communities, advocating for policy and funding reform and co-designing place-based training and mentoring approaches which are culturally-centred and responsive to the unique needs of individuals, organisations and communities.

Sarah lives and works on Biripi country.
