Pat Jewell

Manager - Parenting and Early Years

Pat has a background in early childhood development working in hospital, local government and not for profit settings specialising in supporting families where the children have experienced trauma. Pat has a particular interest in advocating for the voice of parents making the focus of her Master’s degree on the importance of providing space to listen to the voices of parents in early childhood settings. Pat continues this interest in parents through contributing to the development of the Bringing Up Great Kids (BUGK) suite of training materials and products for different family groups. The BUGK resources and materials are designed to be relational, respectful, kind, nurturing and supportive of parents and carers on their parenting journey. Pat also works extensively with early childhood educators across the country supporting their knowledge and practice about relational trauma and its impact on young children and their families. Pat is the author if three publications “Getting Good Speech Going” (assisting young children with their speech) and two groupwork manuals for professionals “Out of the Mainstream” (working with parents with an intellectual disability in a group situation) and “From Strength to Strength” (for professionals facilitating diverse parenting groups)”
