OUR TRAINING
Understanding the interplay between neurobiology, attachment, trauma and mental health

Introduction

This workshop provides a definition of neurobiology, trauma and attachment theories. It also delivers an understanding of the correlation and integration of these, as they relate to emotional and behavioural issues in children and young people with a mental health diagnosis. A clear understanding of the impact of relational trauma will be included as central to this integration of theory.

Target Audience

This training is aimed at people working and supporting children and young people and their families, who have experienced trauma, and in particular practitioners working in mental health services or those providing support for children with complex needs.

Learning Outcomes

  • Understand the role of early childhood experiences in shaping attachment patterns and identity
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of how attachment patterns influence a childs response to trauma and the risk of the development of mental health disorders
  • Apply an understanding of relational trauma and its impact on interpersonal functioning and mental health
